Gattuso: Napoli in training retreat after hitting rock bottom

Gennaro Gattuso said Napoli players have decided to go into a training retreat after hitting rock bottom following a 2-0 loss at home to Fiorentina.

Napoli s season hit a new low after Saturday s defeat against Fiorentina – a third consecutive Serie A loss leaving Gattuso s side languishing in 13th position.

Gattuso has lost four of his first five league matches in charge since replacing Carlo Ancelotti in December as frustration grows and tension builds.

Now, Napoli are going into a training retreat ahead of games against Lazio and Juventus, revealed head coach Gattuso post-match.

4 Prior to Gennaro , the last manager to have lost 4 of his first 5 Serie A matches as manager was Zdenek Zeman in 2000. Suffer.

Stefan Savic agent leaves door open for Juventus

Atletico Madrid defender Stefan Savic has most recently been linked with a move to Juventus.

Bianconeri are in the pursuit of defensive reinforcements as they look to overhaul their ageing backline and find long-term replacements for the likes of Giorgio Chiellini and Andrea Barzagli.

The Montenegro international already played in Italy and could be an instant fit into the Juventus team knowing he’s got good knowledge of the league and Serie A football. He joined Atletico Madrid in 2015 from Fiorentina and is happy in Spain but will not close the door to a Juventus switch.

“Juve? His contract expires in 2022. He is happy in Madrid. We will see, however, what happens in the future”, Savic’s agent Zeljko Pelicic told the Italian media.

´I am enjoying my football at Villarreal´ – Danjuma settled in Spain amid Liverpool interest

Arnaut Danjuma acknowledged he has unfinished business in England but assured he is happy at Villarreal amid speculation over a move to Liverpool.

Danjuma spent two years with Bournemouth before joining Villarreal last August.

The winger was an integral part of Unai Emery s side that reached the Champions League semi-finals, while finishing seventh in LaLiga to qualify for next season s Europa Conference League.

Danjuma led the Villarreal scoring charts in all competitions (16), while only Gerard Moreno can match his 20 direct goal involvements for the Yellow Submarine in the 2021-22 campaign.

Only Samuel Chukwueze (73) and Etienne Capoue (50) completed more dribbles than the Netherlands international, who has starred on the flanks or in a more central …

Rumour Has It: Barca rule out re-signing Neymar, Dortmund hopeful of beating Man Utd to Bellingham

Neymar has been tipped to make the move to Barcelona, almost three years since his world-record transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.

Lionel Messi and Co. have spoken glowingly about their former team-mate amid the speculation.

But reports claim a Barca reunion is not on the cards.

TOP STORY – BARCA DISMISS NEYMAR RETURN

Barcelona have ruled out re-signing Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain, according to Catalunya Radio.

Neymar – who swapped Barca for PSG in a world-record €222million transfer in 2017 – has been repeatedly linked with a Camp Nou comeback.

But the financial implications of the COVID-19 pandemic reportedly mean Barca are not in a position to bring Neymar back to the club at the end of the coronavirus-hit 2019-20…

It’s Time For Christian Pulisic To Take Over At Borussia Dortmund

Few European teams have underwent as many changes as Borussia Dortmund over the last few years.

When The Yellow Bees reached the UEFA Champions League final back in 2013, that team was headlined by certain Polish striker named Robert Lewandowski. In the 2015-16 season, Mats Hummels, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Adnan Januzaj and Ilkay Gündogan, among others, were still with the club. Most of them departed after that year, and although Mario Götze returned, the changes did not stop. Ousmane Dembele left before the start of the 2017-18 season. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang departed for Arsenal during the January transfer window this year. And Sokratis also joined the Emirates Stadium side this summer.

In other words: aside from Marco Reus, who has struggled with fitness and conditio…

Man City set the standard, Liverpool must keep up – Henderson

Jordan Henderson believes it is Manchester City who set the standards in the Premier League and Liverpool will have to keep up with Pep Guardiola s men if they are to stand of chance of winning back the title.

Liverpool welcome City to Anfield on Sunday in what Henderson feels is undoubtedly the biggest match of the season so far for Jurgen Klopp s men.

The Reds can return to the summit with a win after Chelsea knocked them off top spot by beating Southampton 3-1 on Saturday.

Historically Liverpool boast a good record against City, having not lost consecutive home games against them since 1937 and losing just one of their past 18 meetings at Anfield.

But that solitary defeat came via a 4-1 thrashing in February as City cruised to the title, and although …

Montpellier 2-2 Paris Saint-Germain (5-6 on pens): Kean the hero after Mbappe magic

Moise Kean was the shoot-out hero for Paris Saint-Germain as they edged into the Coupe de France final by beating Montpellier on penalties after a Kylian Mbappe masterclass was not enough to finish the job in normal time.

Smarting after seeing their Champions League challenge ended by Manchester City and their Ligue 1 title defence severely dented by Rennes, two wonderful Mbappe goals, which sandwiched a similarly admirable Gaetan Laborde strike for Montpellier, appeared to have secured PSG s place in a seventh Coupe de France final in seven seasons.

But Andy Delort scored a late leveller to make it 2-2 in a dramatic finale to send an absorbing contest to penalties.

Five players from each team all delivered in a high-quality shoot-out, but the pressure proved too…

Grealish hails ´real goat´ Smith as Aston Villa sack coach

Aston Villa have sacked head coach Dean Smith after five consecutive defeats left the club just two points clear of the Premier League s bottom three heading into the November international break.

Smith was appointed at Villa Park in October 2018 and quickly led his boyhood club back to the top flight via the Championship play-offs.

Villa just about survived relegation in their first season back up and also reached the EFL Cup final, before kicking on last term and finishing 11th.

But Villa sold talismanic captain Jack Grealish to Manchester City for a British record £100million fee before the start of the 2021-22 campaign and have struggled in his absence.

Smith s side did win away at Manchester United on September 25, but they have lost every match sin…
